St. Mary’s Cathedral

Cheyenne, Wyoming

The Cathedral of St. Mary, located in downtown Cheyenne, was constructed in 1909 and is the largest Gothic structure in Wyoming and an enduring symbol for Wyoming Catholics. In 2010 the interior of the sanctuary and nave were renovated, providing a beautiful and sacred place to worship.

The 2015 mechanical system upgrades project replaced the existing heating water system boilers and hydronic piping and added an air conditioning system to serve the front half of the nave. The key to the design for the new air conditioning system was to keep it out of sight from inside the nave to maintain the beauty and historic features of the building. The system was designed to allow future expansion to add air conditioning to the back half of the nave.
